LEEK Town got back to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Loughborough Dynamo on a very difficult surface at Harrison Park on Saturday.

It was Blues' first win and first completed double of the New Year. The match also marked Tim Grice's first start and first goal of the season as Leek consolidated their second place in the table.

Before the game Blues picked up their fair play award for December – but blotted their copybook when defender Andy Bratt needlessly got himself sent off in the second half. Blues got the breakthrough they were looking for shortly after the break, netting twice before both sides were reduced to ten men.

Leek went on to create and miss many chances but an added time goal by Loughborough wasn't enough to prevent Blues from picking up their first three-pointer of 2014.

Manager Lee Casswell made two changes to his side, with Bratt and Tim Grice in the starting line-up at the expense of Andy Kinsey and Dan Smith, the latter serving the first of a two-match ban.
