A UNIVERSITY student from Kingsley Holt has been selected as one of only 14 ambassadors to get more people to test drive an iconic car.
Matt Forrester, aged 21, has been chosen by BMW to be a Mini Ambassador and has been tasked with getting 108 people to test drive a Mini in six weeks as part of their latest promotional campaign.
Matt, who is studying in his final year for a business management degree at Staffordshire University and working at Alton Towers Resort, has so far succeeded in getting 30 people to test drive a Mini.
He is taking part in Moorlands Sixth form College's Rag Week event today (Wednesday, October 23) in a bid to push his total up further.
He said: "I did a work placement for 13 months with BMW last year as part of my degree and this came about on the back of that, I applied to take part and after an assessment I found out I got the job two weeks ago.
"It's only running for six weeks and it's not really about selling the cars, it's more about getting the brand and car out there more and getting people behind the whole Mini adventure concept and having fun.
"The whole project is themed on adventure and people have to be adventurous in their test drives and then share their experience on social networks.
"I would like to pursue a career in automotive marketing when I graduate next year and this campaign will hopefully strengthen my CV, I would like to go back and work for BMW ideally.
"It's been busy as I'm at university three days a week as well as working and doing this but it;s a really fun project to be involved in and I'm really enjoying it."
Everyone who test drives a Mini will be entered into a competition to win a £4,000 holiday of their choice with two friends.
