A YOUNG netball player from Caverswall is flying out to South Africa this week to make her international debut.
Former Painsley College student Brogan Griffiths is in the England squad heading for the under-21's indoor World Cup tournament.
As the trip is self-funding it has meant the 20 year old has to raise more than £2,500 to wear an England vest for the first time.
The 20 year old sports therapy student said: "It's hard to believe that I will now be representing my country and I can't tell you how ecstatic I am with my achievement."
Brogan started playing netball when she was seven at the Tean Valley club.
Since then, she has moved on to play in the West Midlands Regional Netball League under the supervision of England coach Collette Thompson.
Ursula Smith, who runs the Tean Valley club and coached Brogan, said: "Brogan has always been a talented player.
"But what she's got extra to other people is the determination to succeed, to put in the hours to practice and to travel. She has also had superb parental support."
