POLICE Officers have issued an appeal to hear from anyone living in Cheadle or Wetley Rocks who has had unexplained damage caused to their property recently.

The plea for information follows an incident at around 1.25am on Saturday, March 22, when a black Toyota Avensis was in collision with a wall in Ness Grove at the junction with Windermere Way in Cheadle.

A 19-year-old man from Cheadle was arrested on suspicion of taking the vehicle without the owners consent and drink driving. He remains on bail pending further inquiries.

DC Cheryl Hannan, investigating officer, said: "The vehicle suffered damage during the collision in Ness Grove but there was also damage to the other side of the car which was not consistent with this collision.

"Therefore, we suspect that the vehicle was involved in a further collision prior to the one in Ness Grove but have not had any reports in the area.

"Please can anyone who woke to find damage to their garden wall or vehicle on Sunday 23 March please contact me.

"We're also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision in Ness Grove."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Hannan Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 64 of March 22.

Alternatively, they can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
