SCOTCHED: RUMOURS circulating around Leek and on social media sites regarding the future of Sainsbury's store in the town have been scotched by the company.

It has been claimed that the store was to close and the premises turned into a distribution centre.

However, the company has told the Post & Times that the rumours are totally unfounded.

A spokesman for Sainsbury's said: "The foodstore in Leek has been open for a year, providing a fantastic shopping experience for our customers and a significant number of jobs for local people.

"We look forward to being part of Leek for many years to come and have absolutely no plans to turn the store into a distribution centre."

And up to 40% of staff have been laid off at times. I can't speak from personal experience as I have boycotted them and will continue to do so. When are they going to take the empty.( bar for the odd few folk who use it) bus off the road which is causing pollution and making the traffic situation worse?
