THERE are some additional scary going-ons at the theme park resort this Halloween thanks to a local business.
Carrie Alcock, who lives in Tean, has been running 'Rent A Beast' since February and the company is going so strong that she has now employed a new team member in Ellen Roney.
Carrie, who now has around 300 mini-beasts, rents out the creatures to schools, nurseries and other organisations.
And this half-term she is taking her beasts to the local tourist attraction of Alton Towers.
Carrie explained: "I've been extremely lucky in that Alton Towers are now working with me through their Scarefest.
"They have hired my animals to use through interactive talks.
"I have trained their animal care team up on the care and correct handling procedures of my minibeasts.
"They have hired a range of animals including stick insects, millipedes, tarantulas, scorpions, land snails and more.
"They have a purpose built area in the Franklyns Freaky Zone within Fountain Square called the Bug Barn.
"The show times are 12.15pm, 2.30pm, 3.15pm, 5.15pm and 6pm. The show is about Pumpkin Patch getting over his fear of creepy crawlies."
Meanwhile, Carrie is also hosting a Children's Halloween Bug Club Special at Christ Church in Tean today (Wednesday, October 30).
Carrie said: "It will take place between 1pm and 3pm.
We will be learning about creepy crawlies, doing crafts and games too. Fancy dress is welcome and the cost to take part will be £4 per child and parents need to attend."
