From 11am onwards on the Saturday 7th and on Sunday 8th, after the morning service, St Werburgh's Church will be open for everyone to see the festival of trees, which have been decorated by different groups from the village.

On Saturday there will also be a chance for children to make their own crafts, such as calendars, door hangers, finger puppets and nativity scenes as well as Christmas cards. Demonstrations of calligraphy will also be taking place.

Christmas crafts will be available to buy. Refreshments will include roast chestnuts, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, cakes, Christmas punch and mince pies.

STAFFORDSHIRE Moorlands District Council has inspected St Thomas Day Nursery, St Thomas Road, Upper Tean, on October 1 and awarded a rating of five out of five for its food safety, health and hygiene.

ONE of Santa Claus's first stops this year will be at Great Gate near Tean where he'll spend an afternoon in the big barn at Wood Farm. The barn will be transformed into a sparkling winter wonderland with real Christmas trees, lights and music and with an authentic Red Indian tipi as Santa's Grotto.

The Grotto and Christmas Market starts at 2pm on Sunday 24th November and the annual event has become a firm favourite with visitors from all over Staffordshire.

Farmer Nick Brandrick and his family are running the event in support of two local charities this year - St Giles Church Croxden and Headway (helping victims of head-injury) - and have planned a variety of stalls and games for all ages.

While the children wait to see Santa Claus, or watch seasonal films on the giant screen, parents can choose Christmas gifts and cards from the many stalls in the barn. These include handbags, books, cakes and preserves, exclusive ceramics and Christmas wreaths.

Refreshments on sale include hot pork baps and mulled wine.

As the Christmas Market draws to a close, shoppers are invited to stay on a while and take part in a 'Get Ready for Christmas' service in the barn led by Reverend Kesh Govan, Vicar of Rocester Croxden and Hollington, with the chance to practise all the old favourite carols.

Admission to Santa's Grotto and Christmas Market costs £2 which includes a visit to Santa Claus for the children and refreshments (tea coffee biscuits etc) all round.

Visitors are invited to dress warmly and get into the Christmas spirit among some of the finest views in the county. Further details if required from Nick Brandrick on 01889 507258

Citizens Advice Bureau's AGM is being held today (Wednesday 20th November) at 5.30pm at Cheadle Cricket Club, Tean Road, Cheadle.
