THOMAS Lavin, aged 20 years of Durham Drive, Lightwood, has been charged with driving without due care and attention following the Road Traffic Collision which occurred at 6am Tuesday, November 12, on A50 at Meir where a serving Police Constable based at Cheadle Police Station was knocked off his bike while cycling into work.
The 44-year-old Constable sustained serious and significant injuries and spent three weeks in hospital. He is now continuing in his recovery at home.
Lavin is due to appear before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 22.
BETWEEN 6pm and 11pm on December 26 on Woodlands Avenue, Cheddleton, a Blue Renault Megane parked outside an address had two of its tyres slashed by unknown persons.
Staffordshire Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward or who saw anyone acting suspicious to contact them on 101 quoting incident number VDU 588 of 26/12/2013.
BETWEEN December 19 and 26 a garage was broken into on Armshead Road, Werrington. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101 quoting VDU 571 of 26/12/2013.
OVER the Christmas period between 6pm on December 24 and 12pm on December 27 both the Cricket Club and Bowling Club have been broken into in Oakamoor and a large amount of alcohol, cash, tools and a wide screen TV was stolen. Quite a bit of damage was also caused inside the cricket club.
The offenders would have had use of a vehicle. Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour or who may have knowledge to contact Staffordshire police quoting incident number 348 of December 27.
Local PCSOs will be in the area leaflet dropping and providing reassurance.
A LUCKY resident from Cheadle has bagged the top prize of £2000 cash in Douglas Macmillan Hospice’s weekly Lottery draw.

A CARER’S support group is continuing to meet every month in Cheadle.
The Alzheimer's Society Carers Support Group are now held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Guild Hall, Tape Street, Cheadle.
Organiser Janet Parrish said: “The meetings start at 7.30pm and run until 9pm and are open to all carers of people with any type of dementia.”
