IT was a good weekend for all three Moorlands clubs in the top tier of the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire Cricket League.
Knypersley, Checkley and Leek all recorded victories in the Premier Division. Success was particularly sweet for defending champions Leek, who were looking to register their first win of the season after four failed attempts – one foiled by the weather.
Knypersley maintained their unbeaten record at the expense of Burslem, while Checkley saw overcame Porthill Park. Leek looked in trouble at Wood Lane, after losing six wickets for just 97 runs, but they battled back to make 215-9 and then bowled out their opponents for 198.
Left-arm spinner Nayar Abbas was the star of Knypersley's 78 runs defeat of struggling Burslem. He took 8-39.
Newcomer Amer Siddique, the former Derbyshire county player, scored 40 for Checkley in their comfortable seven-wicket defeat of Porthill Park, but it was skipper Michael Allen who top scored with an unbeaten 47.
