RSPB Coombes Valley nature reserve is inviting families to get crafty this February half term and join in with its Wild Art activity days.

From Wednesday 19 to Sunday 23 February, between 11am until 3pm, families can drop in any time to join in the fun.

Stick and stone creatures, natural collages, and wild picture frames are just some of the activities on offer.

Speaking for the RSPB Rachel Edwards said: “Finding natural craft materials on the reserve to make wild creations whilst also getting families outdoors, learning and discovering all about nature is what it is all about.

“This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, dust off those cobwebs and explore your local reserve. Turning old leaves and sticks into wild art is a great way learn about the outdoors and connect with nature.”

One of the greatest threats facing our natural environment is people’s growing disconnection from nature, especially that of children.

If people do not have a connection to nature, they do not realise its value or feel a sense of responsibility for it, and are less likely to take action to save it.

RSPB believes that every child and young person should have regular opportunities to connect with nature, so they value it, prioritise it and take action to save it now and as adults.

The magical woodland reserve near Leek is a perfect example of a wild space that can be enjoyed by children and adults of all ages, and it doesn’t cost a fortune to get immersed in nature.

There is no booking required for this event, although donations are welcomed for the craft activities.

A £2 car parking charge is applicable for non RSPB members.
