EIGHTY players from the Cheadle SMU FC junior section attended the club's annual awards presentations at the town's leisure centre on Sunday.

The youngsters were joined by around 100 parents and family members

The event included a mini soccer competition, played out in glorious sunshine.

Proceedings were opened by Cheadle SMU chairman Ian Morton, who thanked everyone for their support at the event.

He also thanked the club's main sponsor, the M and M Group, who once again sponsored the trophies.

Morton said afterwards: "It was great to see so many players and their families enjoying a really good day out that celebrates what the club is about."

The awards were presented by former club coach Gary Morris.

To begin with, the under-7s development squad was presented with medals, and then the club's under-8s to under-11s were given individual awards.

Jack Lewis swept the board in the under-8s category, winning the Manager's and Players' Player awards, as well as being named Clubman of the Year – the latter two accolades were shared with Sam Pickup and Jay Gregory respectively.
