CHEADLE wishes to honour and remember its 88 men and boys who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Great War of 1914—1918.

Cheadle Town Council and the Cheadle Branch of the Royal British Legion will unite in order to remember our fallen at a special church service on July 27, at the Cheadle St Giles the Abbott Parish Church.

Civic heads from across the county being invited.

There will be three doves for peace released at the end of the service and a civic reception will then make the day complete.

It is hoped living relatives of the men and boys of Cheadle, who perished in the conflict, join the service.

A commemorative medal will be presented to each family. This medal is in the process of having the design finalised. Cheadle schools will be invited to have an input into this.

Posters will be put in shop windows with a full list of all of the men and boys who made that ultimate sacrifice for their nation, a list of their names following.

Cheadle Town Council and the Cheadle Branch of the Royal British Legion would dearly like to honour the living relatives. If your ancestor is one of the servicemen listed below, please contact the Cheadle Town Clerk at The Lodge, Tean Road, Cheadle, on 01538 754288, and you will be an honoured guest at this service.
