The Peak Truck Show is coming back to Uttoxeter Racecourse in June for the 12th time. The event sees trucks of all shapes and sizes, from brand new to vintage, come together to compete against each other in over 20 different categories to see who is the Best In Show.
The event takes place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June and there will be three main arenas running entertainment throughout for the visitors in between admiring some show stopping mobile works of art.
Many of the drivers attending use these vehicles five days a week and use them as their home for the duration, working, eating and sleeping in them. With true dedication they then bring them to different shows up and down the country and in some cases Europe to polish them and compete against each other.
A whole variety of trucks will be seen including some stunning American trucks which have been imported from the USA. Together with these full-size real life motors, there are several enthusiasts who bring some scale model remote control trucks which will be touring the racecourse over the weekend too. The detail on these miniature trucks is astounding right down to flashing headlights and air horns!
On Sunday afternoon the results of the weekend will be announced and crystal trophies are awarded to the drivers for their hard work.
In one arena there will be a trials bike display team which will be balancing on and off different objects from a 45 foot trailer to a stack of pallets, mini skips and railway sleepers to mention but a few and the youngest member of the team is only 7seven years old.
“Mayhem” will be making its first ever UK appearance in another of the arenas. A new monster truck on the scene, which was only imported from the USA a few weeks ago, will be showing the crowds some of its dare-devil jumps and taking passengers for a “Ride if you Dare” experience. All the guys that work with “Mayhem” are very friendly and love to chat with visitors, so come along and meet them.
There’s also a 4 x 4 display, where you will see some smaller commercial vehicles, some of which are used in Emergency Response to get the Emergency Services to places that they can’t reach with their own vehicles or to assist them if more manpower or horsepower is required. Again, this group of enthusiasts love to talk to people about their pride and joy.
Together with all the displays there are a mixture of trade stands, food, drink and ice-cream as well as some children’s rides, Victorian swing boats and inflatables.
On Saturday bring your kids along for their very own “Kids Off Road” driving experience, a special area laid out with obstacles for the little ones to drive a battery operated Land Rover all by themselves. Sunday, there is a “Land Train” touring the showground all day which can be flagged down and you can jump aboard for a sightseeing trip or just to take you back towards the car park to save aching feet.
Show organiser Sarah, from Peak Truck Shows says “It is an amazing sight to see over 200 trucks of all sizes gleaming, the drivers take so much pride and the customised ones are truly works of art, depicting themes like Golden Compass, Johnny Cash and Transformers. There is something for everyone at the show, young or old alike and Uttoxeter Racecourse is such a picturesque setting for it”.
