Members of a Women's Institute have been enjoying a canal boat holiday together.

Nine members of the Whiston Women's Institute took to the waters of a number of canals recently. A spokesman for Whiston WI said: "This was the second time we have used Anglo Welsh Narrow Boat hire company for a WI holiday.

"The boat was 70 feet long and we picked it up at Great Haywood, travelled along the Trent and Mersey canal and then the Coventry Canal.

"We soon mastered the locks again and everyone had a job to do. Our skipper Sheila Steele soon put the motley crew into order and there was no shortage of food and cakes."
