Every year the Werrington Young Persons Support Group organises the village family Funday which this year attracted visitors from far and wide and was the most successful ever.

Pupils at Moorside High School joined in the fun with teacher Mr Courts arranging a special Challenge Day with year 11 pupils based around the devising of a complete marketing campaign for the event including the designing of display material, press releases, leaflets, advertisements and radio jingles.

Mr Courts said that he was delighted with the enthusiasm shown by the pupils who showed great imagination with the designs for the promotional activity.

Jean Fryer and David Shaw from the young person's group were invited to attend, something of particular interest to Jean, a well-known local artist, who commented that the flair shown by the youngsters was a credit to them and the school.
