LAW firm Bowcock & Pursaill has appointed Jim Hickey to support its property team.
A former partner at legal firm Hacking Ashton, Mr Hickey, pictured, brings more than 30 years of experience in law to Bowcock & Pursaill and will be based at its Leek office to provide maternity cover for partner Emma Amat.
Originally from Stroud in Gloucestershire, his appointment signals a welcome return to Bowcock & Pursaill after more than 16 years.
He said: “I used to work at Bowcock & Pursaill when I first moved to the area, and I worked in their former Milton office for five years where I did private client work and residential property, so now it feels like coming home as a lot of the people I knew then are still working here and the nice friendly atmosphere is the same – it’s a nice place to work.
“I’ve been letting people know where I am and learning the systems here, and although I will be based at the Leek office, because we have an office in Festival Park as well I’m happy to people wherever is suitable for them.” He added that business within the property sector was busy, and was only set to continue following the recent announcement by the Governor of the Bank of England that interest rates will remain low.
He said: “Local agents I talk to are very very busy at the moment which is great, and it’s really important for this area that people have the confidence in their working lives to commit to a new mortgage.
“Overall I’m very positive about the market, as if you’d asked me last Christmas whether I thought it would be busy the picture was less certain.” Mr Hickey is available to offer advice on all legal issues related to residential and commercial property.
