A UNIQUE evening is being planned in Leek in an effort to raise funds for injured soldiers.

Entitled Twilight Trek for Troops, a walk will take place through the town with glow sticks and fairy lights. It will be on Friday, November 29, at 6pm.

The walk, in aid of the Help for Heroes charity, will start at the Market Square and go down Sheep Market, Stockwell Street, Ball Haye Street to the Nicholson War Memorial and then up Derby Street back to the Market Square.

The event is being organised by Helen Fox, who has a son serving in the Army, along with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. Mrs Fox said: “All the money raised will go the Help for Heroes charity which supports injured soldiers. At the end of the walk there will be a surprise for people.

“Music will be played throughout, and we are hoping to have other entertainment put in place “We need 1,000 glow sticks, which will cost £300, and we would like to hear from anyone or a company who would help to sponsor them.

A donation of £2 person is to collected from walkers.

If anyone could help on the night or could help with sponsorship contact Mrs Fox on 07971 523760.
