HELP is available to vulnerable local people struggling to keep their homes warm this winter.
With a fifth of UK households experiencing a boiler breakdown last winter, a local warmth scheme is encouraging people in Cheadle to seek help now if their heating is broken.
The Health Through Warmth scheme works with organisations in Cheadle to help with the funding and installation of heating and insulation measures for vulnerable people. The scheme may be available to any vulnerable homeowners who have a long term, cold-related illness, a low income with little or no savings and who are unable to fully find measures, such as a new boiler or heating system.Since it was founded in 2000, more than 81,000 vulnerable residents in England and Wales have been referred to the scheme for aid with heating and insulation. More than £65 million has been given to help fund the work required, which includes £1.8 million from charitable organisations. Over £8 million has been contributed from the Health Through Warmth Crisis Fund. For information visit www.healththroughwarmth.com
