A HOST of activities and events will be taking place in a village this weekend.
The Oakamoor Village Festival will be taking place over Friday, Saturday and Sunday at a variety of venues in the village including The Lord Nelson, The Willows, the church, The Cricketers and The Valley School.
Each year the village festival raises thousands of pounds for local charities.
Highlights for this year include: a murder mystery evening, steam fayre and hog roast, duck race, flower and produce show, dog show, heritage quiz trail, raft race, concert in the church, scarecrows, face painting, book sales, and much more.
A spokesman for the organising team said: "There is something for everyone and people come from far and wide to the Oakamoor village festival which raises a lot of money for local causes, including First Responders."
Here we take a look at the full programme for this year’s Oakamoor Village Festival: Friday: Murder Mystery Play, 'Murder at Fortune Court', is written and performed by locals and is becoming a cult classic.
Only two tickets left at £10 including pie and pea supper.
Saturday: Oakamoor's village pubs are involved in the festival spirit all weekend:- there is The Nelson's beer festival and all the pubs are open for food and drink, plus a bouncy castle at The Cricketers, then in the evening there is live music at The Nelson and an auction at The Admiral Jervis.
Family entertainment includes the duck race at 3pm, a penalty shoot out at The Valley School 1.30pm 4.30pm and a round-the-village treasure hunt. There are stalls and tombolas and all the scarecrow entries to admire and judge.
Nobody will go hungry because The Nelson has a hog roast, the village hall is serving tea and cake, the pubs are open and Gordon's ice cream van will be there.
The traditional flower and produce competition is taking place in the village hall 2pm 4pm with produce auctioned off afterwards.
Oakamoor Free Church's flower festival (from noon) is always beautiful and the theme this year is 'Oakamoor a place in history'.
This year The Valley School has been sorting through its archive and is holding an exhibition of memorabilia on Saturday afternoon. Pupils past and present are invited to the school and are welcome to bring items and photos to show. While parents and grandparents reminisce, children can take part in the penalty shoot out. The magic lantern show is being held 4.30pm 6.30pm.
