A detailed investigation is now underway following a fatal road traffic collision in Baddeley Green, Stoke-on-Trent.
Police officers were called to Baddeley Green Lane just after 4.20am yesterday (Wednesday) after a single vehicle, a black Vauxhall Vectra, was in collision with a tree.
A Police spokeswoman said: "Sadly an 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She has yet to be formally identified. Two other people, the 23-year-old male driver of the vehicle and a 28-year-old woman, remain at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in a critical condition.
"Specially trained officers are now supporting the families of those involved in the collision.
"Following the incident the road was closed until approximately 12.15pm yesterday whilst specialist collision investigators examined the scene. The vehicle was removed from the scene and will now be subject to a detailed examination."
Any witnesses of the incident are urged to call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 94 of July 23.
