DESTINATION Staffordshire is preparing to host the first Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards.
In its inaugural year, preparation for the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards is beginning to take shape, where Destination Staffordshire and the tourism industry will be celebrating the best in business across the county, from hotels to events, visitor attractions to tourism pubs.
Results will be announced on Monday 4th November where invited guests will enjoy an Afternoon Tea with a ‘Staffordshire in Wonderland’ theme to be held at the Moat House Hotel, Acton Trussell, from 2pm.
Dr. David Bryon, former Managing Director of bmibaby, will be speaking at the event and sharing his experience in leading the largest budget airline in Europe. As a regular guest on national programmes such as Five Live, BBC Radio 2 and Sky News, David is renowned for his hilarious wit, quirky anecdotes and great speeches. He has recently launched his new tourism business ‘Wakelake’ at Chasewater Country Park in Staffordshire.
Since nominations opened the Tourism Awards have received a great response from Staffordshire businesses and the general public, with entries at around three times the amount attracted by Visit England last year.
Mark Kerrigan, Chair of Destination Staffordshire, said: “With such a good reception from businesses countywide, we are all really looking forward to hosting this awards ceremony. It will be a great way to acknowledge and celebrate some fantastic Staffordshire businesses and all their efforts in promoting tourism in the county.
“With a unique theme and an entertaining guest speaker too, I am positive the event will be a great success for all involved, and something we will look to continue in the future.”
