TOTALLY Locally Cheadle is launching a week long 'fiver fest' at the
monthly Cheadle Farmer's Market on Saturday, May 10.
Many of the town's independent businesses will be putting on £5 special offers for the week supported by a map with a list of the offers available from the Totally Locally stall at the market and the participating shops.
Marc Briand who is coordinating Totally Locally Cheadle said: "The Totally Locally Fiver Fest is the chance for the independent shop and business owners of the town to shout about just how good they are and what great value they can offer.
"We are constantly bombarded with advertising from the big supermarkets and the huge chains telling us how you can't live without them and how cheap they are.
"But you know that when you look closely it's not that great a deal after all, and if something is on offer other things will be more expensive.
"The fiver fest is a really good way of getting Cheadle's residents to pop into the shops they may not have used before and to explore their own town.
"At the launch event during the St George's market the people we met and talked with really have a love for Cheadle and
want to support it and see it thrive.
"Just spending £5 a week in the local independent shops can help to make that happen.
"If every adult in Cheadle switched just £5 a week of their shopping from supermarkets and online to Cheadle's independent shops this could add £2.1 million pounds a year to
Cheadle's economy, making it a better place to live and work. "So why not come along to the Farmers market , buy some lovely local produce, pick up a map and go explore Cheadle's fantastic independent businesses?"
The Fiver Fest will be available for the week until Saturday, May 17, and the cafes and shops taking part will have Fiver Fest posters in their windows as well promoting their offer.
