Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Wednesday lunchtime to Roach End to assist the West Midlands Ambulance Service with a casualty on moorland between Roach End and Back Forest.

It is believed the casualty, a teenager, was taking part in a countryside management field trip and had suffered a medical collapse on the Back Forest woodland boundary.

A spokesman for the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team said: "When the rescue team arrived the casualty had recovered but was still a little groggy.

"The Midlands Air-Ambulance had landed nearby and paramedics from the aircraft and West Midlands Ambulance Service assessed the casualty.

"Following treatment the casualty was walked with assistance by medics a short distance to the aircraft and flown to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for further treatment."
