A teaching assistant who has already carried out a skydive for charity is keeping her feet firmly on the ground for her next fund-raising challenge.

Paige Harrison, who works at Churnet View Middle School, Leek, will be taking part in the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday, April 26 next year.

The 22-year-old is aiming to raise as much money as possible for the children's charity NSPCC.

In the run up to participating in the 26-mile-long race, Paige is carrying out a variety of other fund-raising activities including a charity ball in November.

Paige, who lives in Leek, said: "In the hope to raise as much funds as possible for this worthy cause I will be holding a Moneypenny Ball on Saturday, November 15, at The Moat House in Festival park, Hanley.

"I have raised money for the NSPCC before by doing a charity skydive from 13,500 feet.

"I raised just under £800 from getting sponsors and also organising paintballing events."

The 'Moneypenny Ball' is set to have a James Bond theme with a formal dress code, a 'classy' pole dance display by 'Pole-Fit', as well as roulette and black jack tables.

Paige said: "I am hoping the charity ball will be a big event and a great opportunity to raise as much funds as possible. There should be a minimum of 200 guests attending and tickets are being sold at £30 per person, which will include entry and a set three course meal.

"The evening will be James Bond themed with a formal dress code. We will have a private bar, DJ, roulette table and black jack table.

"On the night we will be holding a grand auction so I would like to make a plea to local companies for donations of prizes for the event. We have some fabulous prizes so far too to auction including: a signed Manchester United football, a jumper worn by Jordan Henderson from Liverpool, theatre tickets, a photo shoot for two including makeovers and many more."
