A CHEADLE Zumba class has helped to raise more than £1,000 for Help for Heroes after hosting a Swinging 60s and Motown Zumbathon.

The event, which took place at the Guild Hall in Tape Street, Cheadle, on Friday, January 24, was held to celebrate local nurse Rita Rushton's 60th Birthday.

Instructor Maura Frith said: "We had a brilliant night celebrating and we made a staggering £1,000.

"The money was raised from ticket sales, collections held at the surgery where Rita works, a raffle on the night and other donations.
