A FORMER student Painsley Catholic College in Cheadle has been selected to represent England at the coming Commonwealth Games.
Swimmer Adam Peaty will be one of his country's main medal hopes in Glasgow this summer.
The 19 year old, from Uttoxeter, has been showing consistent world class form and gold at the British championships last month.
He held off Scotland's Ross Murdoch at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow to win a thrilling 50m breaststroke final.
The victory was sweet revenge for Peaty who was beaten into silver by Murdoch in the 100m breaststroke. Peaty also finished second in the 200m breastroke to come away from the championships with a triple haul of medals.
Peaty's consistently good performances have moved him up into fourth place in the world rankings for the 100m breaststroke.
The swimming events at the Commonwealth Games will take place July 24-29.
