Four swans have been found dead at a scenic tourist spot.
The four birds were found at Rudyard Lake, near Leek, on Monday morning.
Ray Perry, chairman of the Rudyard Lake Trust: "It is very sad. We raised two of the swans ourselves as their parents died last year.
"We are not sure what they have died of, but there is no wounds so it must be something that they have eaten. It is not pollution in the lake as we have no dead fish.
"We called the RSPCA who have taken the swans away and at least one of them will have a post mortem.
"We now have no swans at the Rudyard Lake – it's a sad day for us and those who live around the lake."
