BRANCHES of Sainsbury’s across the region are throwing their weight behind Douglas Macmillan Hospice's Bring a Pound Day, which takes place next Friday (October 11).

On Bring a Pound Day, schools, businesses and organisations are encouraged to bring a pound to support the hospice.

Sainsbury’s branches from Leek, Biddulph, Hanley and Newcastleunder- Lyme will all be part of Bring a Pound Day, with collection boxes in-store all week and undertaking various fund-raising activities.

Vicky Colclough from Sainsbury’s in Leek said: "All of the Sainsburys stores across North Staffordshire are proud to support Douglas Macmillan Hospice. There will be plenty going on in our stores to raise vital funds for Dougie Mac all throughout the week."

Liz Clarke, Head of Fund-raising at Douglas Macmillan added: "All monies raised from Bring a Pound Day will help the Hospice continue to care for local people of North Staffordshire facing a life limiting illness.

"Be one in a million for your local Hospice and register for Bring a Pound Day now."

Supporters can still register for Bring a Pound Day at www.dougiemacevents.co.uk.
