A NEW six-a-side football competition is coming to the Moorlands.

The John Pointon & Sons Summer Soccer Sixes will be staged on the new 3G pitches at Pointon's Park, Cheddleton.

Two leagues of eight teams will compete between June 1 and August 3.

There will be seven league fixtures, plus a knock-out competition. Each team will play one game a week, in a 15 minutes each way format.

Clubs pay a registration fee of £25 per team, and the cost of each game is £10 per team, plus a referee's fee of £5 per team. Teams will be vetted to establish in which league they will be placed.

The closing date for applications is Sunday, April 24.

Registration forms and rules can be collected from the Dyers Arms in Leek or from the John Pointon Sports and Recreation Facility in Felthouse Lane, Cheddleton.

Organisers are also looking for match referees. For details, call John Barratt on 07976 598095.
