Student Josh Turner from Leek is on his way to raising £1,000 for Christies Cancer Charity after organising a Western themed photo booth at Leek's Country and Western Weekend last month.

Josh, who has recently completed an AS Level in Photography at Buxton & Leek College, set up and ran the photo booth with fellow A Level student Alex Beloe, at the event held in Brough Park, Leek. The pair encouraged the public to dress up in western gear and pose before the painted backdrops.

The photos were then manipulated by Alex to create 'wanted' posters for the public to buy; utilising the skills she has developed on her course. Josh and Alex are currently working together so set up their own photography studio and have worked together on different shoots previously.

They raised £150 on the day from the sale of the posters. Josh hopes to raise a further £850 for the Christies Cancer Charity by taking part in a 10,000ft parachute jump later in the year.

The charity is close to Josh's heart as a close family member is currently receiving treatment for cancer.

He said: "Throughout my life I have given to charity every now and again yet I don't feel I have made any considerable donation or efforts to donate. As a family we have been tremendously pleased with the quality of care my relative has been receiving thanks to The Christie Charity which is why I am trying to raise as much money as possible for them."

People can donate towards Josh's parachute jump at www.justgiving.com/Josh-Turner2 and view Josh and Alex's work on their Facebook pages, search for Josh Turner Photography and Alex Beloe Photography.
