Staffordshire Police is set to distribute leaflets in the streets local to this year’s V Festival, which takes place in Weston Park on 16th and 17th August.
The leaflets, which will give tips on personal safety and keeping valuables secure, as the force seeks to reassure the public that its presence, which is being paid for by the event organisers, will remain as high as in previous years. The festival is likely to draw tens of thousands of people from across the country for the music and comedy marathon.
Leading musical performers including Justin Timberlake, The Kaiser Chiefs, Tinie Tempah, All Saints and Nile Rodgers will take to the stage, as will a roster of top comedians including Alan Carr and Paul Chowdhry.
“Many look forward to V each year and we’re proud to have such a prestigious event, a legal high free festival, on our patch,” said Inspector Geoff Knight, Head of Local Policing across South Staffordshire.
“We will maintain our presence throughout the weekend to help ensure that traffic flows freely around the venue and the festival passes off without incident.
“We are encouraging those attending to travel light, to leave their valuables at home, to lock their vehicles, remove or hide all items inside. We ask residents toreport any suspicious behaviour to us.”
The local authority has granted a premise licence for the site to cover the event. This means that anyone involved in violence, disorder or any other crime faces immediate ejection from the event along with criminal prosecution.
