Two candidates for the next local elections have met the Prime Minister.

Rebecca Done, of Leek, and Joe Porter, of Endon, will both be standing for seats on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council in May next year.

The pair met David Cameron at a Conservative Party event at JCB World Logistics in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

Rebecca said: "I felt nervous meeting David Cameron but he made me feel at ease by speaking to me about where I was from. He knew where Leek was and spoke to me about what I stood for. He then took my phone off me saying 'let's do a selfie'."

Joe, aged 18, who is a Staffordshire Youth Councillor, said: "Being able to meet the Prime Minister was an incredible opportunity to meet the man who leads the country on a daily basis.

"It pleased me to hear how well informed he is on the excellent progress we are making here in the Staffordshire Moorlands with our improving local economy, and Leek achieving second best high street in the country."
