MANOR Farm, Quarnford was the venue for the Harry Machin Memorial Trial where an entry of 51 riders faced four laps of 10 sections.

A rocky stream and steep banks were the mixture with two routes set on each section.

The harder 'expert' route produced a very close contest between Simon Traves, Edward Dain and Sam Yeomans. Only four marks separated these three at the finish with Simon beating Sam by three marks who, in turn, was just one ahead of Edward.

Sam lost all his marks on sections seven and nine but was beaten by Simon who lost just nine.

The Clarke family from Sheffield managed to win the other two classes with Sam scooping up the 50/50 award and father Chris staying clean all day on the Clubmans route.

Sam lost four marks to win the 50/50 class losing all his marks on section one, being some way ahead of Chris Gilbert, Pete Ruscoe and Matt Burrows.

Father Chris rode his four- stroke Montesa to a majestic clean on the clubmans route ahead of a closely fought contest between Danny Littlehales, Steve Hitchcock and Carl Braddock.
