Staffordshire County Senior Football League

ONLY a handful of games survived the weather over the weekend.

There was no play at all in the Premier Division, much to the frustration of AFC Leek Town and Cheadle Town.

Ball Haye Green's Staffs FA Vase clash with Wolverhampton Casuals was also postponed for a third time because of a waterlogged pitch.

Redgate Clayton switched their Leek Cup fifth round tie to Newcastle Town as their pitch was amongst the many declared unfit. Newcastle won 2-0 through goals from Harvey Collins and Josh Gordon.

Just three games went ahead in Division One. Jordan Atkin scored the only goal of the game in the first half for visitors Foley at Congleton Athletic.

Silverdale and Knypersley shared the points from a 2-2 draw. Alex Robson and Matthew Mills got on the scoresheet for Silverdale and Billy Horton and Dean Washington replied for Knypersley.

After a goalless first half, Steve Allen opened the scoring for visitors Brereton at Sandbach United after 48 minutes. Rhys Baker added a second on 54 minutes and Stephen Allen made it 3-0 two minutes later.

Allen scored again on 71 minutes and James Russell made it five without reply for Brereton four minutes from time.

In Division Two, Longton switched their game to Whittington and returned home with maximum points from a 3-2 win. Matthew Pender, James Vernon and Carl Pickin found the net for Longton and Matt Bannan and Steve Wilkes replied.

John Lamburn put Uttoxeter Town reserves ahead at home to Hilton Harriers reserves in the first half. Scott Abbey equalised after the break but Matt Redshaw then struck Uttoxeter's winner.

Visitors Milton United reserves opened at L A Holditch through Danny Powell in the first half. Richard Carr equalised and Sammy Richard added a second to take the points for the hosts.
