THE departure of Coronation Street legend Hayley Cropper from the ITV soap has been marked by her fellow stars – with a new ale made in North Staffordshire.

Cheddleton-based Staffordshire Brewery made 12 bottles of the special beer to be supped at a leaving party for Corrie actress Julie Hesmondhalgh.

And the labels for the Red Anorak Ale – to recognise Hayley's famous coat – were produced by the Best of British Beer, in Silverdale.

Hayley leaves Coronation Street next week after losing her battle against pancreatic cancer in the TV show.

The owners of Best British Beers were stunned to be contacted by Corrie actor Alan Halsall – who plays Tyrone Dobbs – with the labels request.

They contacted Staffordshire Brewery to produce the beer.
