The Year Seven girls and boys hockey teams went to Cannock Hockey Club to play in the County Hockey Tournament.

The boys played in the morning and won all of their pool matches, beating Denstone, Queen Mary's B, Newcastle and Friary, all quite convincingly.

In the semi-final, they played Queen Mary's A team and beat them 2-0.

This meant that they had to play Newcastle again in the final as they had won their semi-final too.

The winners were shared between St Edwards and Newcaslte.

The girls played in the afternoon in a round robin competition, as there were only six teams in the tournament. They beat Stafford, Friary, Wolverhampton and Walsall Grammar Schools, and drew with Newcastle. This meant that they had won the girls competition and they are Staffordshire County Champions.

Both girls and boys played some fantastic hockey, with some outstanding goals being scored by Matt Bond, Will Midwinter and Louisa Hall, who scored 10 out of her team's 14 goals.

Their next task was to represent staffordshire in the Midlands Hockey Championships at Cannock.
