SPURNED lover Jake Alcock threw a brick through his ex-girlfriend’s mum’s front window.
The 20-year-old was in a relationship with Samantha Salt, but they split up last April, North Staffordshire magistrates heard.
They resumed contact in December, hoping to remain friends. But Alcock went to her Meir Park home on New Year’s Day and was told she was seeing someone else.
Prosecutor Sue Hayers said: “The defendant walked away. He then threw a rock at the living room window, which smashed.”
Alcock, of Robina Drive, Cheadle, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
Hayley Keegan, mitigating, said Alcock got a ‘bit hung up’ on the relationship. On January 1 he went round to try and talk to Miss Salt.
Miss Keegan said: “He was met by her mother, who told him her daughter did not want anything to do with him and was seeing someone else. He took his frustrations out on the window, feeling humiliated.”
Miss Keegan added that Alcock now accepts the relationship is over.
Magistrates sentenced Alcock to a 12-month conditional discharge. He must also pay £125 compensation, £85 costs and a £15 surcharge. He was also made the subject of a 12-month restraining order, preventing him contacting Miss Salt or going to her address.
