Oldham Boro 3 Leek CSOB 1
LEEK CSOB’s unbeaten run came to end away at Oldham on Saturday.
The Old Boys took the lead in the second minute when Price and Broad combined to set up Cope, who fired home from the edge of the box.
CSOB never really threatened to extend their lead in the first half and although they had a good claim for a penalty following a foul on Mellor they would have been happy going into the break one nil up having played up the slope in the first half.
The first 10 minutes of the second half started in similar vein to the first half, with CSOB looking a solid and compact unit. However, in the 56th minute a left wing cross found its way to Curley, who made no mistake from 10 yards.
The goal seem to give Oldham a boost and they were now looking more threatening going forward, and it took a goal line clearance from Ball to keep the scoreline level.
The respite was short-lived, however, In the 68th minute, Jo Heap curled a long-range effort past the despairing dive of Rhodes to put the hosts in front.
CSOB were now chasing the game. They were denied what seemed a certain penalty when an effort by substitute Knott appeared to be cleared by a defender’s hand.
Despite further pressure, CSOB failed to create any clear-cut changes and it was the hosts who broke and secured the points with a goal from Danny Laffery in the last minute of the game.
