SWIMMERS from all over the county took part in the annual Leek Rotary Charity Swimathon.
Leek’s junior squads (pictured above) took part in the event and in just 50 minutes, the 16 swimmers managed an incredible 1,090 lengths – just over 17 miles or 27 kilometers – and is almost as long as swimming the English Channel.
A team of more than 20 from the Primary Care Centre at Keele University also took part in the Swimathon, for the 10th year running. Between them, they too swam a distance equivalent to the Channel.
