Trott faces further tests on hand
Jonathan Trott remains a doubt for England's final NatWest Series match against South Africa, despite the favourable result of an x-ray on his injured right hand.
The England number three was struck a painful blow by a short ball from Dale Steyn during a six-wicket win at Lord's on Sunday. After he had shown obvious signs of discomfort during a century stand with Ian Bell, there were fears he might have broken bones and England would have to call up a replacement batsman for Trent Bridge on Wednesday.
But an England and Wales Cricket Board update was encouraging, as it read: "X-ray of hand rules out any major fracture. Further medical assessment required tomorrow."
Trott, however, is still a doubtful participant as world number ones England seek to close out series victory after taking a 2-1 lead at Lord's.
