NSJYL U14 Yellow League Waterhouses Park Rangers 11
Biddulph Tigers 1 AFTER two back-to-back cup defeats, Rangers returned to league action with a dominant performance.
Rangers were out of the blocks quickly, displaying the passing game missing from recent performances.
The opening goal came from a cross by Jake Whiston, which the keeper tipped upwards. The ball fell for Kyle Buxton, who headed home.
Whiston then came close to opening his account with a header cleared off the line, a shot just wide and finally hitting the bar.
Rangers extended their lead when a Jack Shepherdson cross fell to Ben Venables, who slotted home from close range.
Venables notched up his second goal when Ress Johnson laid the ball back and Venables smartly chipped the Tigers keeper.
Shepherdson was the provider again when his corner found Whiston, who finally opened his account. Shepherdson completed his hat trick of assists when another corner was unfortunately knocked into his own net by a Tigers defender.
Rangers were looking dangerous at corners and Shepherson again got an assist with a pinpoint corner which Johnson headed home with power.
Rangers finished off the first half the way they started it, with a Whiston cross finding Buxton who slotted home, making it 7-0 at the break.
Buxton was hungry for his hat-trick and following the break he raced through and rounded the keeper and calmly slotted home for his third from a very tight angle.
The second half was a more balanced in terms of possession and efforts and Biddulph kept ther heads up and continued to battle but on the attack, Rangers looked the more potent force.
Rangers had a bit of an unusual goalmouth scare, with a series of deflected balls, but eventually recovered and Johnson made it double figures with a neat finish.
Tigers finally got a goal when a cross hit the legs of Dan Hardy and trickled in for an own goal.
The game concluded with Whiston completing his hat trick, with a good finish from a Venables through ball.
