A POPULAR French sport is making its debut in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
It’s boules – a collective name for a wide range of games involving the throwing or rolling of heavy balls at a small object.
The sport has been introduced at the new John Pointon sportsground in Cheddleton.
“We hope to arouse sufficient interest to start a local league,” said sportsground manager John Barratt.

The free boules sessions take place on Wednesdays between 2pm and 4pm.
