POLICE officers used a combination of sniffer dogs and air support to track down burglars at a former dairy site in Upper Tean.

At 3pm Thursday, May 1, officers from Cheadle, Uttoxeter and Stoke, along with air support from Manchester were called to the Fole Dairy site off Cheadle Road, Upper Tean, to track down two offenders who had broken in.

The team searched the buildings for the pair using sniffer dogs, a specialist working at heights team and firefighters, after securing the perimeter.

The first offender was caught by one of the police dogs and was arrested.

The team then had to wait for air support to arrive to allow the dogs to do a full building sweep to find the second offender.

A representative for Cheadle Police tweeted: "On arrival the offenders were inside. The perimeter was secured.

"Great teamwork at Fole with officers from Cheadle, Uttoxeter and Stoke with support of Staffordshire Police Dogs and air support from Manchester."
