A singer from the Staffordshire Moorlands will be making a flying visit to her home town to perform at an arts festival.
Joni Talks, who grew up in Leek and attended Westwood High School, will be appearing at the Foxlowe Arts Centre as part of this year's Leek Arts Festival.
Now living and working in the music halls scene in London, Joni said: "I am delighted to be performing at the Foxlowe again. I am always overwhelmed by the wonderful turnout every time I perform there and for the friendly welcome by the Foxlowe volunteers.
"It really is a great venue in Leek for encouraging and supporting the arts and community."
Joni's concert ' A Night At The Musicals', will be a celebration of some of the greatest musicals of the last century, with a wide variety of songs from shows such as the 2014 Olivier Award winning, Merrily We Roll Along by Stephen Sondheim, the longest running West End shows Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, new musicals such as A little Princess, The Last 5 Years along with golden era classics such as Carousel, A Star Is Born and Oliver.
Joni said: "It will be a flying visit up to Leek to appear at The Foxlowe as I will be in the middle of a show I have written and am performing in at The Brick Lane Music Hall, London called 'Divas". "A tribute to all of the great Divas of our time, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Dolly Parton, Doris Day, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minelli and Shirley Bassey to name but a few. The songs of these legendary ladies may well make an appearance at The Foxlowe too."
Joni will be performing at the Foxlowe Arts centre on Saturday, May 24 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50 and can be purchased from the Foxlowe in advance or on the door.
Joni added: "This concert is particularly important to me, as I will also be holding a raffle during the interval with the proceeds going towards The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
"The Christie has been pioneering cancer research breakthroughs for over 100 years and is the largest cancer centre in Europe.
"This raffle is just the start of a pledge that my family and I have made to raise funds for The Christie charity since it became such an important part of our daily lives.
"If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize for the evening then I would be extremely grateful."
