STAFF at Severn Trent Water will be getting up particularly early on the morning of Sunday, May 18, to open the gates of Tittesworth Reservoir for a Dawn Chorus walk.

The event, which starts at 4.30 am and is expected to last about three hours, is to be led by Wendy Birks, local amateur naturalist and volunteer for the Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership.

She said, "May is a great month to experience the dawn chorus which is a wonderful ensemble of numerous species of bird all singing in the quiet of a spring morning – it is definitely worth the effort of getting up early to hear it!"

"And, as we are sure that after the walk everyone who comes along will be hungry, we are laying on a breakfast of baked beans and buns."
