Service will mark anniversary and soldiers' sacrifice

A WORLD War One Commemorative Civic Service is taking place on Sunday, July 27, at St Giles the Abbot Church in

Church Street, Cheadle at 2.30pm.

The service will include invited guests, members of the families of the 88 soldiers who are listed on the Tean Road memorial, the Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Humphrey Scott-Moncrieff, civic guests, school children, members of the Royal British Legion and also members of the public.

There will be a brass band playing and after the service three doves of peace will be released.

The family members of the fallen soldiers will also be given specially made commemorative medals in honour of the sacrifice made by their relatives, and to mark the occasion.

There will be a reception at the Manor afterwards for invited guests only.
