THE Leader of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has given her seal of approval to the brand new Haregate Community Centre.
The new centre in Queens Drive, Leek, opened last month and replaced an old facility in Haregate Road which is to make way for new Ascent homes.
Councillor Sybil Ralphs MBE, said: "This new centre is a wonderful facility for the community and I hope local people enjoy making full use of it.
"It's a high quality venue right at the heart of a residential area which is proving very popular with all age groups, particularly the young and the elderly.
"It's also fully equipped and accessible to people with disabilities, so it's ideally suited for a variety of community uses, and it's certainly proved its worth during the school summer holidays.
"The Ascent programme is delivering a whole host of benefits across the Moorlands.
"We're building affordable homes for local people, we've recently opened as state-of-the-art extra care facility at Daisy Haye in Leek and we're investing in improving community facilities and open spaces.
"It's a programme to be proud of with services for local people at its core."
