ENDON village leaders are looking to remove a school hedge to make a pathway wider and safer.
Endon with Stanley Parish Council chairman councillor John Sambrook reported during a recent meeting that he had looked at the hedge by St Luke’s Primary School on the A53 Leek Road and agreed that it should be removed to improve the footpath and increase safety.
It should increase the width by five feet, making it a considerable improvement on the current situation.
Mr Sambrook had calculated that the costs would be in the region of £4,000 to £5,000, dependent on the cost of removing the hedge for which he is currently obtaining a quotation.
The headmistress of St Luke’s agreed with the proposal and said that the school may be able to help with the funding, while county councillor Kevin Jackson would also help with his available funds.
It was unanimously agreed by the council that quotes should be obtained and the project moved forward.
