MORE than £700 was raised at a village event on Sunday despite an afternoon of heavy rain.
Despite the very poor weather all the activities planned at the annual Onecote Fun Day and Dog Show went ahead.
However, following weather forecasters predicting gales and rain, the attendance was well down on last year's event, which was attended by more than 400 people.
Forty dogs and their owners took part in the dog show and all other events including the children's sports and terrier racing went ahead.
One of the organisers Diane Jaggers said: "The weather and the forecast affected the attendance, but everything that was planned carried on.
"The dog show was held in a large marquee and stalls were held in the adjacent village hall and also in the marquee.
"We would like to thank everyone for turning out in the poor conditions in true British style.
“Also a big thank you to local businesses for their sponsorship.”
