Professional footballer Dave Fox was playing for Norwich City in the Premier League last season, but on Saturday morning he was at Westwood First School in Leek.
He was there to lead rigorous pre-season training session for Leek CSOB players.
Earlier, Fox was at the John Pointon Sports Facility – Leek CSOB's new base – where youngsters were thrilled to play alongside him in a kick-about on the state-of-the-art 3G pitches.
Leek-born Fox is the son of former Stoke City goalkeeper Peter Fox, who made more than 400 appearances for the Potters and most recently has been the goalkeeping coach at Blackpool.
"Everyone at CSOB, and all the parents and management at Pointon Park, would like to thank Dave for his generous support," said CSOB spokesman John Barratt.
Midfielder Fox, aged 30, was a regular in the Norwich team in the Barclay's Premier League, before they were relegated at the end of last season.
He began his professional career as a trainee at Manchester United and his other former clubs include Blackpool and Colchester. His younger brother Mark plays for CSOB in midfield.
